Indonesia has set a goal to limit the global greenhouse gas emission to 29% and 41% (with international assistance) by 2030 from business at usual. Energy sector will play a significant role in the national emission reduction program. The Government of Indonesia has set up a National Energy Program that rules energy program until 2025. It spells out that energy is an economic development drive rather than a commodity and also highlights the increase of renewable energy in the future energy mix.
As a good start, a national wide program on energy awareness was initiated in 2014.The program targets at Indonesian children and youths to start action on energy efficieny. It is expected the current young generation can adopt an energyconservation attitude and maintain it. Having them on board, the program will amplify the reach of energy efficieny concept to a wider audition.
Pulau Bintang is an animation film on how people can live in an energy efficiency manner. The film serves as a communication channel targeted at young people to adopt energy efficiency and conservation program.
Public awareness program is key to climate change solutions. The session will provide some information on the outreach activities on energy and climate change that have been carried out in Indonesia and Sweden.
