Having said that all Parties would need to make fair and ambitious contributions to reducing emissions for achieving the Paris Agreement goals of keeping the temperature rise well below 2 °C or even 1.5 °C, a vast majority of countries including Indonesia have adopted reduction targets by 2030 in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Indonesia First NDC figures a number of 29% (unconditionally) and up to 41% (conditionally) as country’s target in emission reduction in 2030. These targets will be achieved through mitigation actions in 5 category sectors, which the 29% target is elaborated in specific sectors: energy (11% of), forestry (17.2%), waste (0.38%), agriculture (0.32%) and industrial process-product use (0.10%).
In order to lay a foundation for NDC implementation, Indonesia has been identifying some key area of actions in every sector which will be referred to in defining mitigation actions, activities and programs including the development of NDC Implementation Strategy which is covering the 9 programs to set up necessary arrangements and conditions in implementing NDC.
This session is to provide and communicate an update in translating NDC into Actions in Indonesia in the context of financial matters, climate resilience and development planning, along with a perspective of actions specifically in energy sector. The discussion will be focused on preparing the NDC implementation including its means of implementation.
