Mangrove conservation is increasingly recognized as a cornerstone of environmental sustainability, particularly in coastal regions. These unique ecosystems, thriving at the intersection of land and sea, provide essential services, including habitat for diverse marine life, protection against coastal erosion, and acting as significant carbon sinks. The critical importance of mangroves in maintaining coastal ecosystem balance and mitigating climate change cannot be overstated.
APP is deeply committed to the preservation of these vital ecosystems, integrating mangrove conservation into its broader sustainability initiatives. Through strategic collaborations with the Indonesian government and organizations such as Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN), APP has implemented extensive mangrove restoration programs across Indonesia. Notably, the Tangerang Mill has partnered with the Tangerang District Government to manage the Ketapang mangrove area, resulting in the planting of 150,000 Avicennia marina trees between 2018 and 2023.
The talk show aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of the critical role of mangrove conservation in promoting environmental sustainability. By sharing APP’s successful initiatives, including strategic partnerships and community empowerment programs, we seek to inspire similar conservation efforts across industries and regions. Participants will gain valuable insights into the practical challenges and successes of large-scale mangrove restoration projects, with a focus on the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration. The talk show will also highlight the potential of such initiatives to enhance both environmental and social outcomes, contributing to a more sustainable future.
The talk show is designed for a diverse audience, including environmental conservation professionals, corporate sustainability leaders, government officials, NGOs, and academic researchers. The audience will gain insights into the practicalities of mangrove conservation, the significance of cross-sector collaboration, and the potential for replicating successful models in other regions. This aims to attract those who are committed to advancing environmental conservation efforts and are interested in learning from successful initiatives in Indonesia.
