Session > G2 – Bridging the Rio Conventions: Integrating Multilateral Environmental Agreements to Strengthen Indonesia’s Climate Policy
Indonesia’s ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve net-zero targets hinges on robust legislative support. This session explores the pivotal role of the Indonesian Parliament, particularly Commission XII, which oversees environment, energy, and investment, in crafting and overseeing climate-related policies. Members of Commission XII will discuss how legislative instruments—laws, oversight, and budgetary decisions—are being used to accelerate emission reductions while promoting sustainable investment.
The Ministry of Environment will provide complementary insights on how executive actions and regulatory frameworks align with parliamentary initiatives. Additionally, a House Representative from a partner country will share international perspectives on legislative strategies for climate action, offering comparative insights and opportunities for cross-border collaboration.Together, the speakers will highlight the synergy between legislative and executive branches, and the importance of global cooperation in advancing climate governance.
