The session titled “Driving 8% Economic Growth Through Sustainable Initiatives: Collaborative Strategies for Advancing Green Business in the Energy Sector” will explore the challenges and opportunities in addressing climate change through strategic initiatives supported by technology and ecosystem developments. It will emphasize how these proactive strategies are crucial for achieving Indonesia’s 8% economic growth
In the short term, PLN aims to fulfill the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by 2030 through initiatives such as expanding renewable energy, de-dieselization, phasing out coal-fired power, biomass co-firing, improving energy efficiency, reducing grid losses, expanding gas, and adopting clean coal technologies. The long-term vision is to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060, which requires a sustained commitment to developing and integrating advanced technologies. Fostering collaboration among stakeholders— including government agencies, private sectors, and research institutions—is essential for driving innovation and scaling sustainable practices.
To enhance national economic growth, PLN encourages communities to provide biomass materials for co-firing at coal- fired power plants (CFPP), promoting local economic development and community welfare through end-to-end involvement. Furthermore, PLN is dedicated to implementing sustainability in its business processes via various policies and instruments, including an ESG Policy and framework aligned with global best practices.
In light of the current global economic landscape, the session will connect climate commitments with the need for increased investment in energy transition programs. Experts will discuss sustainability initiatives, including both short-term and long- term goals aimed at achieving Net Zero Emissions. They will highlight the importance of developing supporting technologies and ecosystems crucial to this journey.
Presentations will share lessons learned from other utilities and international institutions, providing valuable insights to support national and global climate targets. By sharing these experiences, stakeholders can encourage innovation and adaptation, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable energy future for Indonesia.
This session will provide an in-depth exploration of these initiatives. The target audience includes stakeholders, planners, and policymakers who are instrumental in shaping the future of sustainable energy. The session aims to foster a collaborative environment where insights are shared, and innovative solutions are discussed, ultimately contributing to the global effort to combat climate change while driving economic growth.
