Session > B10 – Nature and Climate Action: Conserving Tropical Forest for Ecosystem Services and Climate
Tropical forests play a critical role in supporting human well-being, food security, water security, prevent from natural disaster, such as flood and landslides, maintenance biodiversity and natural climate regulation. However, tropical forest facing many challenges, such as deforestation and forest degradation, population development pressures, economic demands, and climate change International community put emphasis on the need to preserve the remaining tropical forests. Commitment to tackle challenges as well as capacity building and innovation in tropical forest management are on-going efforts. There are an increasingly aware on the need to balance social-economic-environmental function of tropical forest. Global support for tropical forest countries to enhance their tropical forest management has been pledged in several international fora, namely in biodiversity and climate change. Yet, this noble effort has not been met with financial support. The tropical forest countries must come together with innovative scheme of funding and financing to improve their tropical forest management. This session at COP30, Indonesian Pavilion will exchange views, experiences and best practices on sustainable forest management and climate action as well as encourage cooperation between governments, global financial organizations, and other stakeholders in order to safeguard forests and contribute to climate action.
