A. Background

Overview

After two weeks of intense dialogue, cultural exchange, and strategic negotiation, the Indonesia Pavilion at COP30 officially concluded its activities. The pavilion served as a vital instrument of soft diplomacy, showcasing Indonesia's steadfast commitment to global climate action. Beyond discussions, it became a hub for synthesizing big ideas and proclaiming Indonesia's readiness to lead in high-integrity carbon trading and emission reduction.

Key Achievements

  1. Global Engagement & Reach The pavilion demonstrated significant international interest in Indonesia's climate initiatives.
  • Visitors: Welcomed over 5,000 visitors.
  • Sessions: Hosted over 50 sessions featuring more than 60 distinguished speakers.
  • Partnerships: Fostered collaboration with more than 100 partners and sponsors.
  • Bilateral Meetings: Facilitated over 20 bilateral meetings with partner countries and development allies, resulting in various agreements on climate change and sustainable development.
  1. Carbon Market Breakthroughs : A major highlight was the success of the "Carbon Connection for Climate Action: Seller Meets Buyer" forum. This initiative moved Indonesia from negotiation to implementation, building trust with global buyers and investors.
  • Project Interest: Received expressions of interest for 44 carbon credit projects from 28 project proponents.
  • Transaction Potential: Recorded a total interest to purchase/invest in 2,754,680 tons of CO2e.
  • Project Portfolio: These credits originate from 12 specific projects, comprising:
    • 8 Energy projects
    • 3 Forest and Other Land Use (FOLU) projects
    • 1 Waste management project
  1. Cultural Diplomacy : The pavilion went beyond technical discussions by showcasing the richness of Indonesian culture through traditional dances, music, attire, and culinary experiences, effectively using soft diplomacy to attract further global attention and commitment.

Conclusion

The Indonesia Pavilion at COP30 successfully demonstrated that Indonesia is not just planning but actively implementing high-integrity climate actions. The event closed with a strong message of hope and concrete results, paving the way for continued collaboration. The delegation officially invited the international community to rejoin Indonesia's efforts at the next Indonesia Pavilion at COP31, scheduled to take place in Anatolia, Turkey, in 2026.
